Interests:
Ross is a relatively new comer to the world of horticulture, becoming interested in bromeliads in the middle of 2004. Early in his professional life Ross owned and operated a commercial photographic studio and laboratory, hence a number of the photographs in the association's journal Bromeliaceae bear Ross's hallmark.Ross has had extensive experience in publishing small magazines such as Bromeliaceae. For quite a number of years he published a magazine titled 'Australian Vintage Aeroplane News'.

Now having edited 13 editions of Bromeliaceae (as at Jan 2007), Ross feels that he is delivering a reasonable product of which he feels proud.

Ross also acknowledges the great contribution made by those people who write the articles on which the journal is based. He also would like to acknowledge the efforts of those behind the scenes whose work is unnoticed, but vitally important - Roy, Bob and Derek, please take a bow!

Ross works in IT as a Senior Analyst and Programmer for Sparq Solutions, a software company owned by two the major electricity distribution utilities in Queensland (Energex and Ergon). He has used those skills to good effect in the generation and maintenance of this web site.

Other than bromeliads, Ross has a life long interest in aviation. He owns and flies a De Havilland 'Tiger Moth' aircraft and is the holder of a commercial pilots licence. He also has a strong interest in Urban and Regional Planning and the effects that poor planning can have on the lives of people.

Ross's credo is

"The future is not the result of choices amongst alternate paths offered by the present, rather a place first created in the mind, next in the will, and finally by activity".
